Design tips to improve your conversion rates by saad Raja
Even when making your designs attractive is essential, designers must not forget the purpose of creating the website; to convert your visitors into potential customers. The higher your conversion rate, the more revenue your business will make. Designers understand the importance of good design in increasing the conversion rates on a website which is why the greater emphasis is placed on building user satisfaction from the designs.
I’m Saad Raja, an expert in UI/UX designing, and I have created a list of design tips that you must refer to if you wish to improve the conversion rates on your websites.
1) Choose responsive designs
Nowadays, more and more users are accessing websites from mobile phones instead of desktops which is why the importance of responsive designs has considerably increased. Responsive web design displays all pages and features in the same manner, no matter whether it is accessed from a desktop, tablet or smartphone. By optimizing your site for use from mobile phones, you can attain satisfied users who are likely to revisit your page.
2) Add compelling buttons
Whatever your desired reaction from the consumers is, make sure that it is not hidden on the site in a dry or boring manner. Instead, you need to add nice, attractive buttons that will help your users respond quickly. For example, ‘SIGN UP’ or, ‘PURCHASE’ will give a direct message t the users, and not make them rethink their choices.
3) Include a lesser number of fields
When you are placing forms on your site for users to sign up, or react, make sure that you keep the number of input fields to minimal. Research statistics claim that for every additional form field that you add, conversion rates go down by approximately 11 percent.
4) Insert additional call-to-action
Calls-to-action provides opportunities for users to convert. Designers should consider adding CTA’s throughout the site in the form of sign-ups, pop-up offers, or download opportunities so any one of these can influence your users.
5) Give your users a guarantee
Always include your return and refund policies on your site that tell the user that applying for a refund will not make them go through multiple procedures or anything. This will help you gain the trust of your users, and increase your sales to compensate for your returns.
6) Increase site speed
Slow-loading websites adversely affect the conversion rates; even a slight delay of one or two seconds can push the audience away. For maximum website conversion rates, designers must ensure that their sites load as quickly as possible.
7) Minimize distractions
If you include compelling Call-to-actions, but they are drowned in the middle of other attractive or engaging content, the chances are that you have divided the user attention and consequently, reduced the chances of a higher conversion rate. Additional information on a site is essential but keeping it as less as possible can help you boost your conversion.
8) Add testimonials and reviews
Adding testimonials and customer reviews on your landing pages offer your visitors a social proof that your brand is reliable. It reduces the risk associated with any activity that they do on your site, and hence, motivates them to take action.
9) Easy navigation
Adding seamless navigation to a page should be every designer’s priority. It will assist the users in easily making their way around the page and get to what they were searching for.
10) Limit the number of options offered
If you offer a variety of packages, offers, products or multiple plans to your users, you are confusing them and reducing their chances of making a quicker decision. Giving choices to your consumers is good, but too many options might distract them from the conversion perspective.
11) Add appropriate number of images and videos
Images can help break down blocks of content and make the site look more appealing and engaging. However, do not overcrowd the page with images as it will distract the customer from the main purpose. Additional of videos can give a more human touch to your designs; something that will help your consumers trust and connect with the brand better.
12) Formulate the headline carefully
Your headline is probably the most important feature of the landing page which will let your users decide whether they want to stay on the site or not. Therefore, carefully structure it and develop multiple headlines before you choose the strongest one.
13) Add both optional and required fields in forms
When adding fields in a form, go for a combination of required and optional questions so that the users can keep themselves engaged, but do not have to compromise their concerns when filling them out. Some users might be comfortable sharing their emails, but not their mobile numbers which is why designers need to give attention to this aspect of design.
14) Keep it relevant
If you wish to boost your conversion rates, it is crucial for you to consider the relevancy of your landing page to your Call-to-action. The landing page design should facilitate the user in completing the desired action, whether it is signing up for updates or making purchases.
15) Create excitement in users
Use of exciting content can create a strong urge in the users to try out your products, and therefore, positively influence your conversion rates.
16) Use simple language
When designing content, the needs of the users must be kept in mind. Since the majority of the users must have low reading levels, using too much of fancy vocabulary or complicated sentences will alienate a great proportion of them. It is advisable to use simple language that is easier to get across to a large number of people.
